I.R.A. Program

Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA’s): a series of professional managed homes for 6 to 8 adolescent to young adult developmentally challenged residents. MIV provides residential habilitation training for these young people to allow them to become increasingly self-sufficient, active members of the community.

Kenny Residence I.C.F.

Intermediate Care Facility licensed by NYS Office of People With Developmental Disabilities, providing residential care, treatment, education and vocational planning.

Day Habilitation Program For Adults

Provides developmentally disabled young adults with supervised volunteer activities in the community with Seaview Hospital, the Parks Department, the NYS DEC and residents of the South Shore of Staten Island in preparation vocational training. Funded by OPWDD with admission offered through that State Agency.

Non-Residential services operated by MIV for children diagnosed with Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorders and Developmental Disabilities interfering with social and educational growth.

RISE Program

After School Program for non-ambulatory children using the MOVE Curriculum.

Sr. Edward Food Pantry

The Franciscan Handmaids of Mary operate a food pantry at Mount Loretto, serving those who are in need of assistance. The collection of food is coordinated with the help of local parishes and volunteers and distributed to needy individuals and families.

Project Hospitality

In partnership with MIV, Project Hospitality provides shelter for persons in transition from rehabilitation programs back to independent living in the community. Consumers of this service sleep in the Convent shelter, but are active in vocational and job placement programs during the day.

P.S. 3 Annex

P.S. 3 Annex is located on the grounds of the Mission of the Immaculate Virgin and serves approximately 269 third-graders. A rotating library, resource room, speech therapy, school based support teams from each school, breakfast and lunch programs and an art program are all contained in this building. A play yard at the rear and side of the building, equipped with basketball hoops and entirely fenced in for safety, supports all physical education activity.

All student placements are from the Committee on Special Education. Currently the school is serving 15 students from the Staten Island Mental Health Day Treatment Program, 42 students from intermediate schools, 49 students from high schools and 5 from PS 25/D31 collaborative program. Academic, vocational and work study programs are offered.

Mount Loretto Friendship Club

The Tottenville and Pleasant Plains Senior Citizen Friendship Clubs joined Mount Loretto’s spectrum of social services being offered to the community. A leasing agreement with the New York City Department of Aging and a building renovation grant from the Staten Island Borough President’s Office allowed MIV/Mount Loretto to avail its facilities to approximately 200 seniors a day.

Terence Cardinal Cooke Care Center

Terence Cardinal Cooke Care Center operates an outpatient clinic in this facility. The clinic is staffed with mental health professionals who provide mental health services to the residents of the South Shore served by OPWDD programs.
